Lafóa Chardonnay Reserve

Description

Strong straw yellow in colour, the nose is fruity, with hints of walnut, mango and melon; a light note of wood makes the wine perfect as a harmonious whole.

Aging potential: 6-8 years.
Chardonnay vine , from old espalier plants.
Excellent pairing accompanied with typical first courses of Italian cuisine, grilled fish and shellfish or white meats.

Serving temperature: 12-14°

Winemaking
Soft pressing of the whole bunch. Fermentation of the must in new and used barriques and partially malolactic fermentation in wood; followed by a 10-month period of refinement on fine yeasts, accompanied by regular batonage. Aging in bottles for approximately 6 months.

Area
Selected vineyards at an altitude of 400 – 550 m above sea level. Dry area, moraine, sandy, gravelly, medium-structured soils; cool microclimate with strong daily temperature variations.

Lafóa: from the pilot vineyard to the flagship wines
The name Lafóa brings to mind the beginning of the quality revolution in Alto Adige and the pioneering work carried out by Cantina Colterenzio in the 1980s. At the time, the pioneer Luis Raifer not only planted new grape varieties on the vineyard of the same name, but at the same time introduced new quality standards: less yield for grapes and better quality wine. It was precisely on this pilot vineyard that the "Lafóa idea" was born: the introduction of new quality standards that are still rigorously followed today by both the winegrowing members and the collaborators in the cellar. Today Lafóa is synonymous with whites and reds with a strong structure, refined and with great aging potential.
