KERNER LAHN CASTELFEDER
Description:
The Kerner variety is a cross between Schiava and Riesling coming from Weinsberg in Germany. This wine shows a yellow color with light green reflections, a fresh and aromatic wine with a light hint of nutmeg, a long and spicy aftertaste.
Grapes:
Kerner - Alto Adige DOC
Area:
The grapes for this wine come from the village of Corona (600m above sea level), a hamlet of Cortaccia. The cool microclimate in these altitudes and the strong temperature variations between day and night in the very important last phase of maturation are very important factors for the formation of the aromatic components of this variety. Soils composed of calcareous gravel from moraine sediments and clayey soils with different sand contents.
Winemaking:
The harvest is carried out by hand in small plastic boxes, the bunches are poured into the pneumatic press and depending on the vintage the grapes are pressed entirely or destemmed. Soft pressing follows and the free-run must alone is left to settle naturally for approx. 24 hours. Alcoholic fermentation occurs using selected yeast strains at a controlled temperature (18 - 21°C). Before being bottled, this wine is aged for approx. 4 months in contact with yeasts.
Pairing:
It is a very versatile wine that pairs well with appetizers and lightly spiced white meat dishes, and in general it is an excellent accompaniment throughout the meal.
Service temperature:
10 - 12°C.
